Tuckahoe Mayor Ecklond: Fiscal Stress Rating A Misnomer

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Although Tuckahoe was among the 22 villages in the state deemed to have "fiscal stress" by Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli earlier this week, Mayor Steve Ecklond cautions that the rating is circumstantial and due to poor timing. In recent years, the comptroller has been conducting audits on governments and schools, issuing "fiscal-stress" scores that determine how much financial pressure is on each of the state's nearly 550 villages.

Tuckahoe Man Charged With DWI In Putnam Valley

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. A Tuckahoe man is in trouble with the law after he was pulled over in Putnam County on Tuesday night and observed to have a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. According to a release from the New York State Police, Gregory Slater, 30, was arrested in Putnam Valley by officers operating out of the Stormville barracks and charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Proposed Bronxville Schools Budget Comes In Under Tax Cap

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. The Bronxville Board of Education has introduced its first proposed schools budget of the season, which comes in under the tax levy cap of 1.36 percent. Westchester Martial Arts Academy Earns Medals From NAGA

Students from the Westchester Martial Arts Academy in Eastchester earned six first-place and three second-place medals from the North American Grappling Association's New England competition on Saturday, Jan. 31. WMAA's mixed martial arts instructor Ron Barone and his assistant, Aidan Connolly, also a student at the school, prepped the group for weeks prior to the NAGA tournament, which was held in the Connecticut Sports Arena in Milford, Connecticut.
