Bronxville School Board Prepares For Flood Mitigation, Hayes Field Vote

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. The Bronxville Board of Education has announced an informational meeting in an effort to educate the public about the importance of passing a pair of propositions that will be voted on in a special election next month. After sustaining millions of dollars in damages from flooding in the Midland Valley Drainage Basin near the high school, the Board of Education proposed a flood mitigation plan and subsequent synthetic field replacement at Hayes Field that will be voted on in a special election ballot on Thursday, Jan. 22. The informational session will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, in the elementary school's multi-purpose room.

Eastchester Fire Department Seeks to Clear Up Confusion over Water Bills

Officials from the Eastchester Fire Department are informing residents of the town and its two villages, Bronxville and Tuckahoe, about a change to their water bills. Residents of Bronxville and Tuckahoe will have to begin paying a "MUNICIPAL PUBLIC FIRE PROTECTION SURCHARGE " because the villages no longer collect it, as part of a change by United Water.

Andrew Lore Wins Eastchester Fire District Election

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Despite an endorsement from the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners, Scarsdale Police Officer Brian Keating lost the fire district election to Tuckahoe resident Andrew Lore, who is the newest member of the board. Lore took nearly two votes for every one Keating earned, topping him 466-261 to join the board of five commissioners, which is tasked with overseeing a $17.3 million budget that directly affects the local tax assessment.

Bronx River Parkway Closures Set In Scarsdale, Eastchester, Greenburgh

Motorists are advised that the ongoing bridge work will close portions of both the northbound and southbound Bronx River Parkway in the vicinity of Harney Road/Strathmore Road and Crane Road through Monday, Dec. 15. Closure of both directions of the Bronx River Parkway between Exit 10, Harney/Strathmore Road and Exit 12, Crane Road. This closure is necessary to remove steel floor beams and girders over the Metro-North Railroad tracks.

After more than a year of debate and discussion, Bronxville school officials have announced a special election for voters to determine whether or not to move forward with a flood mitigation project and field replacement near the Bronxville High School.
