Inaugural Eastchester 5K Draws 825 Participants

More than 825 runners and walkers participated in the inaugural Eastchester 5K Race on Sunday, Sept. 28. The male winner was Michael Nobles, a Bronxville resident, and the first female winner to cross the finish line was Katie Waters, a 1999 graduate of Eastchester High School, who now lives in Florida.

Bronxxville Awaits Word On Funding From Yonkers For Bridge

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Although the Bronxville Village Board of Trustees approved an engineering contract calling for work to be done on the Parkway Road Bridge, more delays may be in store as they wait for a response from the other municipalities sharing the bill. The bridge, which connects Parkway Road in Bronxville to Yonkers, was suddenly closed to vehicular traffic in June of last year after members of the state Department of Transportation deemed it a hazard during an inspection.

Tuckahoe Police Make Most Of Excess Government Equipment

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Tuckahoe police officials have given new meaning to the adage "one person's trash is another person's treasure" and have furnished the department with high-end vehicles and equipment no longer being used by the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare the village to handle a "worst-case scenario." Since entering the program in 2010, the department has been very successful in acquiring vehicles, weapons and emergency equipment as part of the 1033 Department of Defense Federal Excess Property Program, which provides municipalities with goods at no charge that the federal government no longer deems viable.

Last spring Jansen Hospice welcomed a new, furry friend into their hospice volunteer group - a one and a half year old golden retriever named Andy!
